| FILM LAB: CAST/CREW CALL |
|
| 06.22.05 | Volunteers Still Needed |
|
Since we've announced the 2005 Film Lab at this
year's Flickerings, we've had many respond to both our call for cast and crew
in these pages, and to a mass email to past Cornerstone Festival
attendees. We've been pleased to begin to assemble both cast and crew for
our Film Lab projects, including experienced and newcomers in both
categories. But we're still looking for a few good volunteers who'd like to
spend part of their Cornerstone Festival 2005 experience working on a short
film. If this sounds like something you'd like to do, consider joining the
auditions we'll be holding at the festival. Here's the information as it
appears on a handbill we'll be handing out at the fest:
WANNA BE IN A SHORT FILM?
Independent production looking for all ages, sizes & shapes of goths, punks,
nerds, clerks, straights, mothers, believers, skeptics, do-gooders,
gate-crashers, bands, and teenagers who want to spend a few hours being
themselves in front of a camera. 30 roles to give away! Come to the audition!
When: Tues, July 28 from 2 to 6 pm
Wed., July 29 from 10 am to 5 pm
Where: Flickerings Film Lab Tent (behind Food Court / near Flickerings building)
We designed this year's Film Lab with the idea of creating films the
filmmakers would care about, even to the point of finishing them after the
festival and sending them on the festival circuit. We're happy to report
that our filmmakers are indeed taking these projects seriously, and hope that
many of you will catch the vision and join the fun at Flickerings 2005!

| 2005 SHOWCASE ANNOUNCED |
|
| 04.04.05 | Flickerings Short Film Schedule |
|
The complete list/schedule for the 2005 Flickerings short film Showcase has
been announced and added to the online
program. This year we received more entries than ever, making for our
strongest lineup yet. In addition to solicited entries, this years' program
includes various curated works from the Winnipeg Film Group and the Select
Short film, Like Twenty
Impossibles, a much acclaimed piece that powerfully embodies our "Outlaw Cinema" theme. Thanks to all who sent in
films this year, and congratulations to all those filmmakers whose work has
been selected for our 2005 program. We hope to see many of these and other
filmmakers at this year's festival, which features quality programming and
informal networking sessions just for filmmakers. Along those lines, stay
tuned for further information in these pages about our 2005 Film Lab. |

| 2005 PROGRAM ANNOUNCED |
|
| 03.25.05 | Flickerings, Version 5.0 |
|
We're pleased to announce the program for the fifth annual Flickerings @ Cornerstone
Festival. Our feature film track and accompanying seminar is called
"Outlaw Cinema" which will
spotlight films and filmmakers who resisted the status quo and expanded the
vocabulary of cinema. Flickerings 2005 will also add an additional day with
our new "Cinephile
Series" on Thursday afternoon, and we're also very excited about
this
year's filmmaking workshop, "Film Lab". Check out the complete schedule, along with details about our seminars & workshops and "Featured Screenings".
(Information
on this year's short film Showcase will be posted soon.)
Flickerings 2005 will be held June 30 through July 3 in Central Illinois,
part of the annual Cornerstone Festival. See official Cornerstone
site for further details.
We hope to see you there!

| 2005 FLICKERINGS FEATURED SERIES |
|
| 03.11.05 | Outlaw Cinema |
|
Flickerings 2005 (June 30 thru July 3, at Cornerstone
Festival) will present a special track of screenings and an afternoon
seminar under the banner of "Outlaw Cinema", led by Film Journey's
Doug Cummings. The series promises to be a virtual film school in a
weekend, surveying some of the most significant territory of film history and
taking off from our screening (in our new Thursday afternoon slot) of the
documentary Henri Langlois: The Phantom of the Cinémathèque.
The experience of the La Cinémathèque Française under Langlois and
his mentoring of what would become the French New Wave remains an
inspiring model for the community gathering in the La Cinémathèque Flickerings.
